How we started...

Gary and Shirley (the God Parents of our club) discovered the great game of Pétanque while camping in Florida in 2004. When they returned home, they built an amazing court in their backyard and continued play with their friends, Terry and Sue Wien. They met Bob and his son, Josh, online and invited them to join the group.

In 2006, Philippe Boets had just moved Pétanque America (the first online pétanque store), from Miami, Florida to Greensboro, NC. Gary and Shirley reached out to Philippe and invited him to join the fun! Philippe suggested that they form an official club and Carolina Pétanque was born. 

Since 2007 Gary and Shirley have been traveling, teaching, and sharing pétanque love all over the country. Currently, our club has over 125 members and continues to grow thanks to the enthusiasm and support of its founders and members.
